An International Songwriters Festival Guidelines for Hand Made Village Participants Stan Rogers Folk Festival

Thank you for your interest in the Stan Rogers Folk Festival. We are featuring more than 30 performers and groups from across North America, in an International Songwriters Festival honoring the late Canadian folk artist Stan Rogers. We are anticipating an audience base of more than 10,000 visitors daily during the festival weekend. Nova Scotia artists, artisans and crafts people are being invited to participate in the event to expose audiences to the wealth of talent within the province’s artistic community and to enhance the experience of festival visitors to Northeastern Nova Scotia.

In order to accommodate artists, artisans and crafts people participating in the festival, the following guidelines have been created:

Display Areas

Each participant will be housed in a 10′ X 10′ individual tent. The Hand Made Village display area is located on the main field at the Canso Sports Complex, in an area central to the festival stages. This area is an accessible location for festival visitors, but is separate from the workshop tents and concession areas. Display areas will be equipped with one table (or two tables upon request) and two chairs, plus lighting and electricity. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the displays from the outside of the tented area, and also, in the event of rain, by coming inside the tented crafters area. A security guard will be posted in the crafts area from 12:00 midnight until 8:00 A.M. To be perfectly secure we recommend that inventory be locked in secure containers, cars etc. where possible. We endeavor to provide enhanced security but are unable to take responsibility for theft during operating hours or after.

Access to the site

Vehicle access to the Canso Sports Complex will be limited to non-festival hours. Hours of access will include from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Festival Passes & Accommodations

Each participant will be issued two (only) festival weekend passes and festival camping. Camping must be booked in advance (prior to July 1st) through the festival office at 1-888-554-7826. Let us know you will be booking for the Handmade Village.

Hours of Operation and Fees

Each participant is asked to staff his or her display booth on Friday from 6:00pm until 10:00pm on Saturday from 10:00am until 10:00pm and on Sunday from 10:00am. until 6:00pm. Join us for another Thursday night Main Stage event at Stanfest 2024! Vendors, seize the opportunity to open your booth for an extra day of selling. Don’t miss out! During peak hours of operation, participants are encouraged to host active demonstrations of their work. Participants are requested to provide a registration fee to the Stan Rogers Folk Festival upon acceptance of application. The fee is $375 + $56.25 HST = $431.25. A non-refundable deposit of $150.00 must be paid prior to your arrival on-site. Any fees not paid or arrangements made by the due date, will result in the cancellation of the booth.
