Jan and Chris – A for Adventure’s Connection to Canso

In August 2016, Jan-Sebastian La Pierre and Graham Carter set sail from Canso to paddle 175km to Sable Island in a tandem kayak. Their goal was to raise $25,000 and raise awareness for mental health programs at the Brigadoon Village Youth Camp. Adverse weather held their trip up for several days, introducing them to the community of Canso and the Lumsdens, who hosted them in their home. Their successful expedition and tremendous community support endeared them to Canso, and Canso to them. They would pay it forward by coming to Stanfest in 2017, and beginning to work with Troy and the team. To introduce the festival to young adventure seekers.
