This is the concert of the summer!
The East Coast’s finest gather to celebrate Bruce Guthro

Stanfest Grounds
Canso, NS
Thursday, July 25
7 PM Start
*Afterparty to follow

No other performer over the past 27 years has played such an integral and emotional part in the evolution of the festival we know and love. Bruce performed at the first festival in 1997 and all but three editions, when he was touring internationally. When Hurricane Arthur caused the festival to be cancelled at the last minute in 2014, Bruce and several artists still came to perform for the community, volunteers, and some dedicated campers who insisted on coming to Canso anyway. That was Bruce!

Last year was incredibly tough. We were heartbroken that Bruce’s failing health prevented him, Dylan and Jodi from joining us in Canso, but honoured that he chose Stanfest to help him speak to his legion of fans worldwide. As plans began for this year’s event, there was no question, we would create a major event to celebrate our friend and brother-in-arms. This is what Bruce would want. He was a convener. He gathered many thousands, even in the depths of a global pandemic, to come together to witness and enjoy the ‘power of song’. We will now gather to honour and celebrate the music and the man.

We will sing, we will dance, we will laugh, we may shed a tear or two, but we will celebrate, first at the concert and then late into the night. We may even play until the sun rises on Stanfest 2024 because that is what Bruce would do and what he would want.

After the concert, ticket holders are welcome to attend the after-party at the Canso Arena (Pourhouse Stage) with Cape Breton band Pretty Archie.

We will be sharing lots of info about the show on this page The cast is large and there will be additions and surprises. Stay tuned.
