Stanfest News

Wow. What a weekend.

This past weekend's festival screamed of success from every perspective. A perfect weather forecast, with almost a week of hot summer sun on either side of the weekend, set in motion a record breaking year. While it takes weeks to wrap up the business end of such a large event, there is little concern with organizers from an attendance and finance perspective.

The crowds were larger, they came earlier, we were breaking weekend records on opening day in key areas like Merchandise and CD Sales. We are so proud and excited about the weekend. Our volunteers did a tremendous job, the best ever. Without the strains of challenging weather our staff and volunteer team had the best weekend ever also. Thank you, thank you, thank you to our volunteers and staff.

Technically the weekend was top notch with new advancements in lighting, video and audio technology. Sound Systems Plus and Sound Source Audio, and there respective teams, are all rock stars and truly delivered a great festival experience. Personal kudos to Dave Corkum, Chris Coote and John Ellingbo for their leadership and management of all things technical.

Last but not least, the artists, the core element of what we do. The response to the 2010 line-up was incredible both before and during the weekend. Old favourites like Ron Hynes, JP Cormier and Bruce Guthro appearing with full bands was a big hit. Our audience soaked up the diversity brough to the shows by artists such as Alpha Yaya Diallo, Oscar Lopez, Pavlo and the Lee Boys. Jerry Jeff Walker was legendary, a true statesmen for the songwriting troubador.

My thanks and admiration to all who played a part in Stanfest 2010. We have made history together and many new memories. Lets rest and then start to plan for Stanfest #15!.
