A For Adventure Land

Guest Post with Chris Surette and Jan LaPierre of A For Adventure

Working too hard? Been a long year? Feeling the need to bust out, let your hair down and have a new experience? A for Adventure and the Stan Rogers Folk Festival have you covered.

We fell in love with the amazing seaside community of Canso back in 2013 when we selected it as our home port for the Paddle to Sable Expedition, and then discovered Stanfest. We want to share Canso and the festival with you.

The festival is world-class and has become one of the region’s finest events over the past 22 years. On top of the formal musical program there is incredible hiking, biking, paddling, photography, beachcombing, swimming, fishing and campfire-building. Join us in Canso on the Thursday of the festival (July 26th) and immerse yourself in unspoiled nature, outdoor adventure, friendship and music… and did we mention great seafood?

We are recruiting like-minded souls to join us, Parks Canada, The North Face and friends in our “A for Adventure Land Campground” onsite at Stanfest. We’ll camp together, share multiple outings and adventures and share music, food and friendship. The program for the weekend will include:

  • Hiking the Chapel Gully Trail
  • Coastal biking for riders at all levels
  • Paddling the beautiful coastline
  • Hiking and swimming at Black Duck Cove
  • An expedition back in time at the Canso Islands National Historic Site for a beach party and cookout.
  • A Crab Boil (Canso has amazing Snow Crab caught and landed daily!)
  • A Jam Zone in our campground where the music will hardly ever stop.
  • The 1st Ever Stanfest Shed Crawl

All of this on top of an award-winning musical festival with 4 stages, 40 artists/bands and 40 hours of shows and endless jamming throughout the community and campgrounds. Best part is you don’t have to pay a premium. You pay the regular festival fees for tickets/passes and camping and we cover your adventures.

Not geared up for camping? No worries. We partnered with the North Face and will be outfitting 12 campsites for new campers. We’ll have your tent set-up when you arrive. Just bring your sleeping bags and adventurous spirit. Parks Canada will also be bringing their bag of tricks to help everyone feel like camping pros! It has never been easier to experience this great festival.

You simply need to call the festival office and let them know you want to be part of “A for Adventure Land” at Stanfest. They will walk you through the details. Call us today and plan your Stanfest adventure. For info and to make your arrangements phone 1 (888) 554-7826 or email info@stanfest.com.
